Heat your oven to a high temperature of 500°F (260°C).
Put the prime rib roast on a rack inside a roasting pan. Massage the meat with olive oil and sprinkle salt and pepper on it. If you want, you can put garlic pieces into the meat using a small knife.
Put the pan in the oven and cook the prime rib for 15 minutes.
Lower the oven heat to 325°F (160°C) and keep cooking the prime rib until it is cooked to your liking. Use a thermometer to check how hot the inside of the meat is. For a medium-rare steak, it should reach an internal temperature of 135°F (57°C). For medium, the temperature should be 140°F (60°C). For a good result, the temperature should be 150°F (66°C).
Take the cooked meat out of the oven and allow it to sit for 15-20 minutes before cutting and serving.
