It never stays—the whole mason jar is gone—no matter how many times I prepare this for a gathering.

8 ounces of cubed feta cheese, 8 ounces of cubed mozzarella cheese, and 1 cup of olive oil
4 finely sliced garlic cloves
2 teaspoons of chopped fresh rosemary and 2 tablespoons of chopped fresh thyme
1.5 teaspoons of dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon of crushed red pepper
One lemon's zest
Toss with salt and pepper.
How to Follow
Make sure a medium-sized mason jar is completely sterile by boiling it for 10 minutes.
2. Mix the lemon zest, chopped rosemary, chopped garlic, dried oregano, thyme, and olive oil in a small bowl. Be sure to mix well.
3. After sterilizing the mason jar, add the cubes feta and mozzarella cheeses.
4. Coat the cheese cubes completely with the olive oil mixture. Tap the jar gently against the counter to release any trapped air.
Taste and add salt and pepper. 5.
6. Put the lid on the jar and put it in the fridge for at least a day so the flavors can combine.

7. You may serve it cold or at room temperature; the choice is yours.
Changes and Hints
For a variety of tastes, try using pepper jack, cheddar, or gouda cheese. To make it your own, try including additional herbs like dill or basil, or spice up the olive oil with cumin or coriander. Before you close the jar, add some edible flowers for a more elegant touch.
