French Onion Soup


Things needed:

1-tsp. of olive oil
1/2 teaspoon of sugar
1/4 teaspoon of salt
- Thinly slice four big yellow onions.
unflavored butter, three teaspoons
8 cups of low-sodium beef broth
half a cup of water
Two teaspoons of thyme leaves, either fresh or dried (one teaspoon of thyme).
Just one bay leaf
First, toast and slice one baguette.
Gruyère cheese, grated, 2 cups

Get the Onions Started
Make Onions Sweet: Put the olive oil and butter in a big saucepan and cook them over medium heat. After chopping the onions, add the sugar and salt. Cook, stirring periodically, for 30 to 40 minutes, or until the onions become a deep golden brown and caramelized. To avoid burning, lower the heat as necessary.
