There are more essential things than money.

That being said, her parents footed the bill for our wedding. My wife was flying first class on our honeymoon, but I was only able to afford economy. "This is terrible, but Dad says he's not your money machine," she remarked, shrugging.

I got off the aircraft because I was fuming mad. Her dad called me a few of hours after that. 'I provided you with a fairytale wedding and honeymoon at no cost to you.' I couldn't believe it. How are you treating my daughter? Furthermore, he said, "I will not support you, but I will continue to provide my daughter with the lifestyle she is accustomed to." I was already furious before he spoke.

I told him I won’t take being treated this way simply because I’m not rich, then I hung up. After my wife returned home to broach the subject, I stood firm in my refusal to change my honeymoon trip.

Is my reaction incorrect?

Sincerely, Darren
