This Fried Cabbage recipe is a savory, comforting side dish that’s full of flavor. The crispy bacon, sautéed onions, and garlic pair perfectly with tender cabbage to create an easy-to-make classic that’s sure to please!
Ingredients (Serves 4-6)
6 slices of bacon, chopped
1 large head of cabbage, cored and sliced
1 large onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon salt (adjust to taste)
1/2 teaspoon black pepper (optional)
1 tablespoon bacon grease or butter (optional, for extra flavor)
Instructions
Cook the Bacon
In a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium heat, cook the bacon pieces until they’re crispy.
Once cooked, remove the bacon with a slotted spoon and set aside, leaving the bacon grease in the pan.
Sauté the Onion and Garlic
In the same skillet with the bacon grease, add the diced onion and cook for 4-5 minutes, or until softened.
Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
